Fever Ray - Karin Dreijer Andersson

Para quem aprecia videos carnavalescos, sem apreciar muito o carnaval, deixo-vos este video da Karin, no seu album Fever Ray, a ser lançado brevemente. É uma das canções que mais gosto nesse album.

For those who apreciate carnival related videos, without actually enjoying carnival, i leave you this Karin's video, for her upcoming album "Fever Ray". This is one of the songs i like in that album.

Zoe Keating - One cello x 16: Natoma

I think they call this avant gard, but to be honest I really don't know. Zoe Keating is a cello player that on this project (one girl project) adds layers of cello (something like 16 cello phrasings one on top of each other plus sampling) to create a (likes she puts it) dense musical atmosphere. Something like that.

Warning: Don't expect something like apocalitica

Ani Difranco - So Much Shouting So much Laughter

If you haven't listen to Ani Difranco before, this live album is actually a cool introduction because it spans quite a lot of her career.

Just be aware that the songs arrangments are a bit different from the ones from studio albuns

Bob Marley - Babylon by Bus

Live album from Bob Marley& The Wailers, recorded during the Tour that followed the release of the Kaya album. It's my favourite work from Bob Marley, and a good start for those that are looking for more than just the songs from the best of.

Ayo - Joyful

It's a bit of reagge, a bit of african tradicional music (for some weird reason I get a feeling of Kizomba, but in a good way) and, some times, it reminds me a bit of Ben Harper...

Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta!

Gogol Bordello is a multi-ethnic Gypsy punk band from the Lower East Side of New York City that formed in 1999 and is known for its theatrical stage shows. Much of the band's sound is inspired by Gypsy music, as its core members are immigrants from Eastern Europe. The band incorporates minor-key accordion and fiddle (and on some albums, saxophone) mixed with cabaret, punk, and dub as well as multiple languages. Phill Jupitus has once described the band as "a bit like The Clash and The Pogues having a fight... in Eastern Europe,"[1] while Kenneth Partridge of The Hartford Courant described lead singer Eugene Hütz's voice as "somewhere between that of Borat and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog"

Lisa Loeb - The Very Best of Lisa Loeb

Lisa Loeb is one of those female voices that came around the first half of the 90's, doing some kind of, actually, cool pop. Along the lines (kinda of) Jewel or Heather Nova.

Mr. Bungle

You just simply pick the concept that's beyond free-jazz and adapt to something more heavy. the result? Mr. Bungle.
It's just amazing and creepy how can in a minute you are listening something like a valsa and in the next minute you passing to listen something dissonant that makes you want to cut the head of that friend that is beside you.
Between funk, heavy, super-mario game sounds, melodic chorus, rock, ska and crazy shits, you have a ten song brilliant/brutal/ genious album.

Oh and besides that, Mr. Bungle it's inspired on a clown...and you know how clowns are...creepy and terrifying murderers with powers to make children laugh.

Enjoy!!

Herbie Hancock - The Prisoner

Probably, the most overlooked recording from Herbie Hancock collection. People equate Hancock with funky beats and fusion pioneering, but this album shows a different side to the pianist, more a continuation of the "Speak Like a Child" album. The album concept is marked as a tribute to Martin Luther King and his plight for human rights, showing a more contemplative and melodic side of Hancock.
It also would mark the end of an era for Herbie Hancock (the last recording for blue note), as he went on to form the Mwandishi group after this.

Definitely a must have for any Hancock fan.

Kumpania Algazarra

If you want happiness, joy, fun, energy, jump, dance, love, higher feelings, you simply have to listen Kumpania Algazarra.
The fusion between balcan, gypsy, afro-beat, ska and arabic music styles it's what we can ear from Kumpania.
It's the best portuguese album of the 2008 without any doubt.

"Dance and Fun until the End"

Sara Tavares - "Balancê"

Sara Tavares
- Portuguese /Cape Verdean singer, composer and gutitarrist, with a beautiful voice, soul and energy.

"Balancê is a beautiful record in which Sara shows to be a very talented contemporary singer/song writer, that has managed to combine in a subtle and honest way contemporary music with her African roots."
