DevilDriver - The Last Kind Words

I´ll catch this metal stream and throw this precious rock, ex Coal Chamber singer found a real band and did an amazing album! listen to it several times... takes time... listen to my favourite track:

DevilDriver is a groove metal band from Santa Barbara, California. Coal Chamber vocalist Dez Fafara was not happy with the direction Coal Chamber was going in musically, and met musicians who had a similar music interest at a barbecue and bar. Fafara, guitarists Evan Pitts and Jeff Kendrick, bassist Jon Miller, and then-guitarist John Boecklin formed Deathride. Due to copyright issues and the name being taken by several bands, Deathride changed its name to DevilDriver, which refers to bells Italian witches used to drive evil forces away.

One Way Mirror

One Way Mirror - pretty cool metal band from France. I´ve saw them live and they gave a very cool show. It was nice to know them.

Soilwork

"Sword to a Great Divide"

"Stabbing the Drama"

Soilwork
-
is a swedish death metal band from Helsingborg.

"Their sound is a fusion of the classic Gothenburg metal sound with power-groove riffs of late 1970s, early 1980s British, and European metal. However, in their most recent albums, Soilwork have also introduced elements from American alternative metal and adopted a more melodic sound. Their most recent work has more singing and lighter melodies than their earlier work, as well as a more polished production. Due to their more recent changes in sound, they have been likened to their label mates In Flames, labeled metalcore in some instances, and even faced scrutiny by fans for their progressive sound."

Enjoy!!

p.s- I saw this guys last 4th of december, here in Prague, and they were really good;)

My Favorite Things

I start my humble contribution to the soud track of our lives with a music that has been on my top 10 list for quite some years and probably will stay there unless I suffer some kind of massive brain injury.

Hope you enjoy.

Temple Of The Dog

Temple Of The Dog - "Temple was a labor of love, a tribute to a dead friend, an outgrowth of the mourning process."

Definitely one of the cd's that is in my top 10. In Temple you can find a deeply farewell of a dear friend (Andrew Wood) and everything what that holds in sentimental terms, mixed, for besides, with the strength of two bands making music together- Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. And the result it´s just a 55min. piece of heaven.

A very beautiful piece of art.

Zita Swoon - A Song About A Girls

Zita Swoon is a Belgian indie rock group. They entered the music scene of Antwerp in 1993, still under the name "A Beatband" with the EP "Jintro Travels The Word In A Skirt". The group is typical of the music scene in Antwerp, with members playing in numerous other groups. Best known member is singer Stef Kamil Carlens, who founded the group and also played in "dEUS".

Stef Kamil Carlens - vocals, guitar, piano
Aarich Jespers - drums, percussion
Amel Serra - percussion
Joris Caluwaerts - piano, rhodes
Bart Van Lierde - bass
Eva Gysel - backing vocals
Kapinga Gysel - backing vocals

The Apples - Buzzin' About

The Apples are a band with their feet on Haifa, Israel. This is their second album, Buzzin' About.
Enjoy the "scrachy" funk, and remember life isn't only a double pedal, sometimes it has to be a double bass!

Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power

Continuing the metal mayhem, here i drop another pearl of my metal life, a podium worthy... Dimebag R.I.P.

Sepultura - Chaos A.D.

Since we're talking about the soundtrack of our lifes (and before Dominguez jumps the gun on this one) here's my favourite metal album/definition of what a metal album should be like. Heavy as fuck, taking no prisioners.

Tom Waits - Blue Valentine

To listen to Tom Waits is enter in a strange place. There's no middle term, you either love him or hate him (specially after he went into the weird world of experimentation during the Island years). His low growl voice has been the origin of myths and strange legends that no one would like to see crushed, and his notion of how a musician/artist should deal with what he's producing and distributing predecesses the likes of Pearl Jam and Neil Young.

Me, I'm a massive fan of his work in the 70's, while he was signed to the Asylum records. In that moment in space and time, his songs defined for me what a blues singer should sound like: Some dude drunk on bad bourbon, singing about hookers and bitter lifes, in a shitty corner of some little joint smelling of cigarrettes and bad beer. That's what one could expect in this "Blue Valentine". It starts a bit slowly, but after the song "Romeo is bleeding", you're in for the ride. Or, you have though twice and switched to Nina Simone. One of them both...

Beirut - The Flying Club Cup

Beirut is the band of 22-year-old Santa Fe native Zach Condon.

It combines elements of Eastern European and folk sounds. Condon plays the trumpet and the ukulele as his main instruments, having been unable to play guitar because of a wrist injury that prevented his hand from reaching fully around the neck of a guitar.[1]

Live, Beirut's shifting roster generally consists of Condon accompanied by Perrin Cloutier (cello/accordion), Jason Poranski (guitar/mandolin/ukulele), Nick Petree (drums), Kristin Ferebee (violin), Paul Collins (organ/keys/tambourine/ukulele), Jon Natchez (baritone sax/mandolin/glockenspiel), and Kelly Pratt (trumpet/euphonium).

Abril - Cristina Branco

Demians - Building an Empire

French prog rock band. Saw them live last tuesday, in an amazing gig, and they just blew me right of my feet. So, it's prog. Along the likes of Porcupine tree, Riverside or the first album of Amplifier. Kind of. Anyway, the album is excellent.

Antony and the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now

Jeff Buckley - Grace

There is not much one could say about Jeff Buckley or Grace that hasn't already been writen down or said. And since I don't think anyone can really can put this album into words, I'll just say this: Listen to it. It's the voice of one of the last true songwriters. I imagine that he will rise as some kind of Bob Dylan to this generation of ours (if he isn't that already...)

Johnny Cash - Hurt

I haven't really figured out how to contribute to this blog properly.

I've been wandering around different styles of music, but no artist is really that significant that i would definitely want to share with you all. One reason for this is that i enjoy listening to random music in last.fm while at work and not always i have the chance to see who's the musician behind it.

Anyway, i've came across this Johnny Cash 2003 video of a Nine Inch Nails cover, that really means a lot to me.

I apreciate when an individual is so aware of it's life that can admit it's own faults and feel in peace with himself. Even legends like Johnny Cash and Ray Charles are common men with common personal dilemas.

Just before the video, here is my last.fm homepage. Doesn't perfectly reflect my music taste yet (and some of the artists in my library weren't really chosen by me, don't know how they got there..), but it's cool to share with you. If you have a last.fm account, do join me in your network.

David Gilmour - Live In Gdansk

Live In Gdańsk is David's first solo live album and captures the magic of his concert held in front of 50,000 in the Gdańsk shipyards, the final performance of his critically acclaimed 2006 tour.

It also features the first-ever recording of selected Pink Floyd classics performed with an orchestra.

Fightstar - One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours

Fightstar are a four-piece post-hardcore band from London, England. Formed in late 2003, Fightstar have since recorded and released three full length LPs, They Liked You Better When You Were Dead, Grand Unification and One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours.

This band reminds me of Peecock (worldwide hit cult band of Faro) and if it´s musicians were actually good, this might have been a similar result.

Voyage 34 - Porcupine Tree

Conceptual album about the LSD trip from Porcupine Tree. And very different fom their other albuns. Specially the more recent ones.

In a Silent Way / Bitches Brew / A Tribute to Jack Johnson - Miles Davis

You can't really separate these three...

These were the moments when fusion began...

Anathema - Hindsight

This being my first contribution to the blog, I decided to start with the CD that has been playing constantly for the past two weeks.

Hindsight from Anathema, it showcases some of the best musics from their repertoire, rearranged into a more acoustic kind of thing. It's cool for the dude that never heard of them, and to the avid fan that sweats cold like a teenage ponytailed girl wenhever he sees one of the guys from the band. Good for the prog fan, I'd guess, as they swirl into a PinkFloydesque (it's the closest thing I'm thinking of now) atmosphere, among other things like a bit of Procupine Tree or Riverside. Or maybe I'm just full of shit, and you'll have to taste it for yourselves.

Lykke Li - Youth Novel

The closest i can remember is a slightly electronic Fiona Apple, considering "Until We Bleed".

Buika

iron & wine - woman king

Não é novo, o EP, mas eu acho-lhe muita piada. Na mesma onda daquela versão da Such Great Heights, da banda sonora do Garden State.

Into abyss

in BIF

E, claro, "The Day That Never Comes" é a ex-libris do álbum.

Scott Matthews - Passing Stranger

My favorite album from the last months...

Ashes Divide - Keep Telling Me It's Alright

This is almost the same band of Perfect Circle, except the singer is Maynard James Keenan´s son.

Patrick Watson - Close to Paradise

Soundtrack Intro

Saturday morning...

Feeling the urge for some new music, I came up with the ideia of a blog where friends and enemies can gather and share their upcoming or longlasting favorite albums and comment.
Therefore, I welcome all of you to show what are you listening to!!

To start of... of course... Dave Matthews Band... in a memorable and outstanding performance that I and most of my good friends witness.

PS: A small tip... each time you would add a musical sugestion please add the artwork cover.
